Exclusive Dunns River Falls and Awesome Zip Line
Your Ocho Rios excursion begins from the moment you meet your well informed driver/tour guide for a spectacular ride up to H'Evans Scent Zip Line facility. On route, you will first drive along the Caribbean Sea so close in places you feel that you could touch it. Then you turn inland and follow the narrow road up through lush landscaping, passing though sleepy villages, past kids going to school to locals doing their washing. H'Evans Scent is located 2000 feet up with a view across the green fields of St. Ann, our garden parish.
Upon arrival, you will be met by the friendly staff who will give you your first real taste of Jamaica, a natural fruit drink made from fruits that are in season, served in a calabash cup. H'Evans Scent was the first to introduce Zip Lines to the Island of Jamaica and they have stayed ahead of the competition by installing rides which are different to what others are offering. Each ride is a different experience, and once you have been harnessed you will receive safety instructions before the first zipline.
To reach the first zip, named the Leap of Faith, each person is required to climb a staircase. Once on the launch platform, the instructor will give you your final briefing and then you are ready to zip 500 feet across the valley. You are met on the other side by two members of staff, who take you off the line then on a short walk up hill to the next zip.
Once clipped to the zip line at ground level, you are required to make a short run to the edge of the platform and jump off, this gives you the momentum to traverse across the valley back to where it all began.
Your next adventure is the Screamer, a swing that will give you the ride of your life. The seat can accommodate up to 3 average sized people. Once you are connected safely to the bar, a cable will automatically pull you back until you are 60ft in the air. When the motor stops, one person must pull a ripcord this releases the seat holding all the riders, they then swing through the air back and forth until the swing comes to a stop.
A walk then takes you to the Awesome Zip. This is located across the road and is the longest line on the Island, spanning 1200 feet across a scenic valley. To reach the launch platform, after you are attached to the safety line, each guest must climb up the staples (metal steps on either side of the pole) to the platform 50 feet in the air. (For this zip you must weigh more than 110 lbs and no more than 250 lbs). It is a great ride, and it gives you the thrill of a lifetime. Once you get to the other side of the valley, two members of staff then take you off the line. A walk up the hillside pass goats and cows leads you to the last and fastest zip.
Aptly named Speedy, you will need to climb a staircase to about 10 feet off the ground. After a safety check, you push off holding your legs up as you skim close to the ground, picking up speed all the time on your way across a scenic valley back to where you left a few moments ago. From here, it is a walk through the fields past local produce being grown and local folks doing their washing and cooking outdoors.
You will then drive to Dunns River Falls. The falls drop in a cascade (or steps) from a height of 600 feet down to sea level. They are constantly fed by beautiful crystal clear water running down from the nearby mountains and rain forest. It takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to make the entire climb. There are places along the way where you are able to slide down into pools of water, take a swim and climb again. There are local "guides" at the falls who will lead you up. These guides are separate from your tour and will expect a gratuity when you reach the top.
Please Note: Although there are changing facilities at the falls, we suggest wearing your swimming suit under comfortable beach clothing. Water shoes can be rented at the falls if you do not have sneakers or your own water shoes. Flip flops are not recommended. Climbing the falls is not recommended to guests with back or hip or knee concerns. Zipline does not accommodate tandem riders.

I cannot say enough great things about our tour guide Christopher. He was very nice and knowledgeable. The excursion start promptly as we got off of the ship we were in a vehicle and on our way within 10 mins of checking in. From the ship to the zip line it took 30-40 mins. During this time Christopher shared history of Jamaica, pointed out Fruits and vegetables native to Jamaica. As well as answered any questions. Zip Line was a lot of fun. 5 zip lines as the Screamer was under prepare. (they did give us the option of doing extra zips in place of the screamer) Beautiful views, Long fast zips and very nice guides. Great all around experience Chris then took us to Dunns River Falls, once again. Very informative even stopped to buy us the very best fresh Bananas we have ever had. Chris got us checked in to the Dunns safely and on our way. As a whole the experience was great, If at all able I would request Christopher as a guide he made the entire day Awesome.
The Zipline was very thrilling and primitive~~ at times I was nervous about climbing up the pole to the platform! The Screamer was just that: my husband and I both squealed like little girls! Dunns River Falls was amazing~~ our tour guide Michael took very good care of everyone in our group. He took amazing pics of my husband and I: I strongly recommend the Falls if you want to see beauty and get wet! It is like something you see on the Discovery Channel, only YOU get to take part in it! Safe for all ages!
Great day out. Our driver picked our group of 6 up at the port and took us straight to the ziplining. I've ziplined before, but this zipline was not as 'sophisticated' as others I've been on. One line involved climbing a 45 ft pole, so if you're out of shape or really afraid of heights, this isn't for you. The staff there were wonderful and very entertaining/patient/knowledgeable. Once we were finished ziplining, we were whisked away to Dunns Falls for the waterfall climb. The staff/guides there were wonderful and we really appreciated the advice from our driver about buying pictures and warning us of the pushy salespeople. Only advice I would give for this trip...bring a snack! We went from one activity to the next with no stop for food or drink. We had water with us, but we were pretty hungry by the time we got back to the ship.
