Samana Zip and Waterfall

Not all zip lines are created equal, and we have special access to the highly acclaimed "Walk the Plank" zip line, considered to be the best zip line in Samana. After a brief orientation, you will board your safari truck and drive to the zip line, approximately 30 minutes away.

The first run of 12 total lines is over 1000 feet long and takes off from a pirate ship more than 350 feet up a hillside. You will fly above the Lulu Waterfall as you cover 7000 feet of line. The zip is made up of the highest-quality equipment on a three-cable zip line system. You will be fastened in with a double harness that has two cams running along two of the cables overhead. The integrated braking system allows you to have fun without worrying about reaching up to grab the cable to slow yourself down, as you have to do on some other zip lines. There are staff members on-hand to do tandem rides if you are nervous.

After your high-flying zip, you will visit the Lulu Waterfall to take a refreshing swim in the pool it forms.

Next, head down an unpaved road to a semi-secluded natural beach, where you can take in stunning views of the mountains diving into the ocean. Although the beach is not safe for swimming, the views of its natural beauty are not to be missed. Enjoy a typical Dominican buffet, consisting of fresh fish and chicken, served on the beach with as much local beer, soda and water as you can drink (and maybe even some local rum!).

After you've finished your lunch, you will be taken back to the pier.

Please Note: Most of the roads traveled on the tour are paved, but bumps are to be expected.

Great zips and lunch
November 09, 2015
This was a fantastic excursion. We were picked up at the dock and transported to the jungle for the excursion. We were provided with a safety talk and were ready to zip. There were 12 zip of varying lengths and heights. Safety was a primary concern for all the people who helped us. Unlike previous zips on other islands we were not required/allowed to control our speed. This was great because it allowed for some acrobatics while zipping. After zipping through the jungle we were transported to the beach for a BBQ that included chicken, ribs and local fresh fish along with several side dishes. After lunch we had time to swim in the bay. We were then supposed to go to a waterfall, but since they have had a drought the falls was dry so we went instead to a local village where we learned about all the fruits and vegetables that grew there. Tastes of all were provided including hot cocoa made from local beans. We could then go back to the plantation to see how many were grown. This was very educational and a great alternative to the falls.

Highlight of my cruise

I chose this zip line adventure because I felt it was safer than the shore excursion for zip lining through the ship's shore excursion desk. The braking system was exceptional and I always felt safe. If I ever return to Samana , I would do this great adventure all over again!

Best shore excursion on our cruise!

Fabulous excursion into the heart of the country on off roads to get to zipline. Great zips and very safe. The stop at waterfall was awesome as we were able to swim there. Lunch of local fare served on a secluded beach topped off the day. Terry was the best ever as a local guide
