Recommended Dress We recommend wearing a swimsuit under comfortable beach wear. A towel, sunglasses, protective UV clothing, and sandals are recommended. Please Note: Due to the rising epidemic of a coral disease called White Syndrome, which is affecting the coral from Florida to Central America, the Environmental and Local Authorities have asked guests to refrain from applying any sort of sunscreen (regular or biodegradable) prior to entering the waters of Cozumel, in an effort to stem the spread of the disease among healthy coral. We kindly ask that guests who are wearing sunblock rinse it off before entering the ocean. As an alternative, guests are encouraged to wear UV-protective clothing, such as long sleeve shirts and hats.
Restrictions All participants must sign a waiver. The minimum age requirement is 4 to 70 years old to go on tour and 8 years old to participate. The maximum age allowance is 70 years old. Guests who are older are not permitted. Guests under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older. Guests must be 18 years of age or older with a photo ID as proof of age to consume alcohol. The maximum weight restriction is 250 pounds (110 kilograms). Participants must be self-sufficient, proficient swimmers able to keep afloat for 90 minutes or more, as the snorkeling is off of a boat. The use of a life vest during the snorkeling portion is mandatory, without exceptions. All guests must be able to pull themselves from the water via the boat's ladder, walk at least 200 yards, and climb more than 20 steps. This tour is not wheelchair accessible. Pregnant women and guests with asthma, heart conditions, diabetes, seizures, respiratory conditions, blood pressure conditions, back or neck injuries, limited motor skills, or those who are on medications such as antidepressants, lithium, beta-blockers, or base (vein) constrictors, will NOT be allowed to participate. Local authorities are encouraging guests to wear UV-protective clothing and not use sunscreen (regular or biodegradable) in an effort to prevent the spread of the coral disease known as White Syndrome.

Snorkel El Cielo, Colombia Reef & Playa Mia Beach Excursion in Cozumel

After arriving at the pier downtown, you will board your boat with a maximum capacity of 75 guests and set sail on the shimmering water for one of Cozumel's best reef areas, Colombia and El Cielo, located inside the National Marine Park. In transit, your crew will prepare your snorkeling equipment and give instructions on its use during the approximately 1-hour trip.

Jump in with both feet and begin your Cozumel cruise excursions as you will first enter the water from the boat and drift snorkel (carried along by the tide) as the wonderful underwater world of Cozumel appears below you. You will spend approximately 35 to 40 minutes in the water at each vibrant reef.

At El Cielo, named after heaven itself, marvel at the starfish that decorate the sandy ocean floor. This sandbank in the southwestern tip of Cozumel is an incredibly beautiful spot with turquoise waters and shallow areas where the starfish are known to gather. The water depth at Cielo is very shallow, usually only waist deep, and is known as a sandbar. El Cielo is only accessible by boat and is about a half mile from the coast. The powder white sand will massage your feet with every step you take.

For the next part of your Cozumel tour to Colombia Reef, a sublime snorkeling spot hailed as one of the Marine National Park's finest. Mild currents greet you in a protected bay-like area where the shallow coral heads rise around 10-30 feet above the sandy ocean floor. Situated near Colombia Lagoon this area sometimes gets cool, fresh water coming from the lagoon. With excellent visibility and a diverse variety of marine life, Colombia Reef is a perfect place to spot sea turtles, coral communities, barracudas, eagle rays, and schools of shimmering fish.

From here, you will climb back aboard your boat and make your way to Playa Mia, which is only 15 minutes away. Upon arrival at Cozumel's most popular full-service beach, you will have approximately 1 hour of fun.

Playa Mia offers something for everyone. In addition to the white sand beach and beautiful Cozumel water, there is a shopping area, swimming pool, lounge chairs, beach volleyball and soccer courts, ping-pong tables, restrooms, kayaks, paddle boats, water bicycles, floating mats, and relaxing oasis island pool and hydro massage tub.

Your time at Playa Mia also includes the delicious buffet at the main restaurant with international and national specialties such as fajitas, a salad bar, chicken wings, rice, and more. For an additional fee, the following activities and items are also available at the park: drinks at the espresso bar, beach umbrellas, snorkel gear, other water sports equipment, outdoor massage, hair braiding, a fish spa, parasailing, and more.

For the younger kids, there is Buccaneer Bay, complete with a pirate ship, water cannons, and slides. For the older kids and kids at heart, there are two 200-foot water slides in addition to the pool and ocean. Under the ocean, there are sunken Mayan relics you can snorkel over and discover.

At the appointed time and place you will meet for your return trip.

My happy place

Taxi provided to get to the boat, 10 minutes and zero issue, show up to the cab 15 minutes before your supposed to start that way you get to the boat when your supposed to depart. That part was a little fuzzy and they waited for us. The boat ride was about 1 hour going North to a pretty cool reef, saw a ton of fish and a Eagle Ray, the guides put some food for the fish in the water to attract them also. The star fish spot was pretty great also, I've never seen so many in one spot before. The last place was waist deep and I could have passed on that one, that said....saw another ray by chance. The resort they dropped you off at was nice, good food, good drinks and the beach was nice. Return taxi provided, would probably do something else if we go back and it was a lot of fun....coin flip. FYI...the steps to get on and off the catamaran were awesome.....stair case with hand rail that goes into the water.

Unfortunately due to weather they had to reroute our snorkeling so the place we ended up going was that great for colorful fish but the staff on the boat were exceptional and we had a great time anyway.

We had alternate locations due to weather.
December 31, 2022
We were not able to go to El Cielo or Columbia Reef because of the rainy weather, but they took us to a couple of different snorkeling locations that were great. We didn't see much sea life, but that's just how it is sometimes. There were several employees aboard our boat, and I can't recall their names, but they were all really nice and very helpful (one of them swam to the sea floor to retrieve my phone after I dropped it!) Playa Mia beach resort was great! Woody was our attendant and was super nice and accommodating. While the weather was ugly and rainy, it was still a gorgeous place to be. The day was wonderful and we all felt like we had plenty of time at all locations, although had it been pretty, I would've wished for more time at Playa Mia. The boat offered complementary drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic), and Playa Mia had a delicious complimentary buffet as well as drinks. It was a great day and I can't recommend this company enough!!
