Enjoy a warm welcome and experience the true Alaskan lifestyle at Husky Homestead, home of Iditarod Champion Jeff King. This tour is widely heralded as an authentic look into rural lifestyles based on 40 years of Alaskan adventures, from freight hauling on Denali to crossing the finish line in Nome with a champion Iditarod team.
You will be greeted by cuddly puppies and share an intimate view of the Alaskan Husky as they explode from the dog yard on a training run. Get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into creating a championship team and carving a life in Alaska's Interior. Hear compelling stories from the trail and see actual racing sleds, arctic survival gear, and equipment used to traverse 1100 miles of Alaska's most rugged terrain.
During your tour, you will meet champion sled dogs, cuddle with the puppies, and see summer training in action. All too soon, you will be transferred back to your hotel. This tour operates in all weather.
Please Note: If you are staying in the Talkeetna area, (McKinley Princess Lodge, Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge etc.) you are approximately 100 miles from the Denali Park main gate area where this tour departs from. You would be responsible for your own transportation to the Denali area.

Nice show, very interesting. Great video about the Iditarod Race and all it entails. Got to meet Jeff King. They had a special event just for children under 14ish. Our 14 and 13 yo granddaughters enjoyed it very much. That let the adults in the group enjoy the adult geared presentation. The staff were great. The dogs looked very well cared for, happy and energetic.
My siblings, our spouses and my mother and aunt (who are in their 80's) all enjoyed our evening at the Husky Homestead. It was interesting hearing about the dogs and the Iditerod experience.
We were excited to learn about huskies and the Iditerod. Visiting the Husky Homestead was a great experience and very informative. And - as a bonus there was ample opportunity to hold adorable husky puppies.
I have done only this excursion through Shore Excursions Group, so I do not really have anything to compare this with. The trip was fun and we learned about how the Iditarod works. Thank you.
