Jerusalem and The Dead Sea

During this approximately 10-hour small group tour you will leave the Port of Ashdod for the walled city of old Jerusalem to explore the Christian, Jewish and Armenian quarters.

Visit the Wailing Wall, aptly named for the devout who cry out in prayers at the wall. See the Temple Mount and King David's Citadel, then retrace Jesus' footsteps to his crucifixion on the venerated Via Dolorosa.

Stand in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher that was built over the tomb of Jesus and be on the lookout for good finds while in the Arab Market.

Just outside the old city walls you will see Mount Zion, King David's tomb and Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus stayed up all night praying with his disciples.

From there you will take a scenic ride out to the Dead Sea, a salt lake located on the lowest point of land and one of the world's most popular health resorts starting with Herod the Great. You will have the option of stepping into its therapeutic waters and float along while the sea's high mineral content supports you. If you choose to not go into the waters of the Dead Sea, you also have the option of purchasing a snack and beverage at the cafeteria located on the beach. From there, you can enjoy your snack and take in the magnificent views.

Fantastic

One of the best excursions I’ve been on. Our guide was very knowledgeable and paced the trip just right for our group. Took the trip in May. We visited numerous sites in Jerusalem and the West Bank. Loved floating in the Dead Sea. Highly recommended.

Learned so much on this tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and supportive. Fascinating to see Jerusalem, a place I never thought I would visit. Especially enjoyed floating in the Dead Sea. I highly recommend this tour.

Well Worth It

Hagai (sp?) gave us a very informative and well-organized tour of the Old City of Jerusalem and the Dead Sea area. As a former IDF officer for many years, he was completely undaunted by the crowds and the nearly steady rain that fell during the day. My only suggestions for the future: make SURE your participants see the Garden Tomb in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre--we tragically missed it in the crush of humanity there and our guide was no where to be found--and spend less time at the Dead Sea. I did the "float," and it was memorable but I would have rather spent more time in the City of David. Our guide, Jewish, was very, very respectful to the sensitivities of our mostly Christian group.

Guide was excellent. Enjoyed learning about the history. The best part, though was discussion re what it is like to live in Israel these days. Time to stand a bit and discuss. Plenty of time for questions and to look around. The Dead Sea was an opportunity of a lifetiime.

Our Day in Jerusalem
October 24, 2019
Hagib is a well educated tour guide and he is able to communicate his knowledge in an interesting way. This tour was an effective and efficient way to visit Jerusalem and The Dead Sea in a short period of time. We appreciated that he adapted the schedule so we could go to the Dead Sea when it was less crowded and less hot. Shore Excursion Group's small group sizes are a much better way to tour. As added value, we stopped and saw from a distance a fourth century monastery.

This excursion was very informative and fun. The guide was very much of the historian and new the background of why and where your stuff was. Enjoyed this trip thoroughly and would definitely do it again in the future.
